Trippie Redd concert review madness Marcos Huerta, Reporter October 16, 2023 Trippie Redd trying to hype up the crowd. If you don’t know who Trippie Redd is, Trippie Redd is one of the most popular artists and well-known artists of today’s generation, he raps and sings. He had a concert at the Kia Forum on Oct. 4, but his performance was only about 35-45 min long and he didn’t even play most of the songs he had on his setlist, which were most of all the popular songs he’s known for. On top of that he was two hours late for the show. Trippie Redd started his career around 2014-15 and started getting recognition around 2016 with songs like Wish, Love Scars, Topanga, Dark knight, etc. skyrocketing on the billboard during 2017-20. Although he hasn’t carried those high numbers today due to new incoming and upcoming rappers/singers coming into the music industry, he is still a very popular artist today and has a lot of fans including his loyal fans since day one supporting him. He is still mainly known for his popular songs back then or some big hits he has here and there and features he has with other big artists. Moving on to the good stuff, Trippie Redd was scheduled to have his Take Me Away Tour across North America this fall to help promote his new album A Love Letter to You 5 but canceled it without giving reason, even canceled his UK tour too, and including a festival appearance because of “illness”, leaving fans in disbelief and confused. With everything being canceled there was one show he did not cancel though was the show held on Oct. 4, at the Kia Forum. This left fans even more confused because nothing was addressed to the fans saying whether the show was still going on or not. Fans just thought they got scammed for not getting a refund, but they they ended up showing up because that was the only show that showed, it wasn’t canceled, and it still showed their tickets. Fans showed up to the Kia Forum. It didn’t really seem filled up; there were a few empty seats around, who knows why, people probably ended up refunding their tickets just to make sure to get their money back just in case the show didn’t happen. As the show was going on the artists that were being promoted for the show like Lucki, D. Savage, Ekkstacy, and K Sauve weren’t anywhere to be found or seen. Instead, other artists that weren’t promoted for the show were performing like Chris King, Odetari, which people weren’t familiar with, but he did bring out another two artists that were known names like MGK (Machine Gun Kelly) and Lil Xan. However, this still left fans confused and you could start feeling some frustration from them as they were chanting “we want Lucki”, or just “Lucki”, but the show continued, and fans still tried having fun and tried getting into the show while waiting for the main artist of the show to come out which that was a huge problem because it was said that he was running late.

It was hard for fans to keep that high energy though without being hyped up enough and them knowing Trippie Redd was running late they started to lose that high level of excitement and energy that the DJ had to come out and play other popular artists songs for instance like Travis Scott, Lil Baby, Juice Wrld, and XxxTenacion, to hype the crowd up and get them back into the mood while waiting. Trippie Redd finally shows up after being TWO HOURS LATE! But he still excited fans because he finally showed up and still love his music. Fans were enjoying the performance by him as he went on, although he wasn’t really singing or rapping as much as he usually does, he was just letting his song play and people sing/rap along. After one of his top songs Dark Knight, which fans got loud for and sang word for word, he threw up a heart sign and left the stage and the lights turned back on. This left people questioning and confused, people even thought he was trolling like other artists do and comeback out. Fans in the seats and on the floor waited and did not leave and waited for his comeback, but nothing. This made fans chant “we want more” over and over until security ended up telling people to start heading out to the exits and that left people in shock because they found that it was no joke, that the show was over. This left fans disappointed and angry that it was all over social media about how bad the concert was because of what happened how he didn’t play most of the songs he said he’d play, the artist he promoted to be there but none of those were there, and he was 2 hours late and only preformed for 35-45 min. Fans left bad reviews saying the concert was “terrible”, “the worst concert ever”, “everyone could agree that we deserve a refund” etc… Overall, the concert was just a mess and didn’t live up to the hype and expectations.
