Jhimma 2 2023 Marathi

Jhimma 2 Movie Review : A story of emotions that also shows a mirror to the viewers

Critic's Rating: 3.0/Review: Two years ago, Hemant Dhome brought together a fantastic team of actors and created Jhimma, a film that was loved by audiences and critics alike. The film did leave scope for a second part during its end credits and Dhome, along with writer Irawati Karnik and the entire star cast have taken the story ahead with Jhimma 2.

Like the first part, the crux of Jhimaa 2 lies in a foreign trip with the seven ladies of the film. However, the reason is different this time as the women reunite to celebrate Indu’s (Suhas Joshi) 75th birthday. While the crux is similar, Jhimma 2 is different in the way it unfolds, and the introspection it encourages through the instances in the story. While Suhas Joshi, Nirmitee Sawant, Suchitra Bandekar, Kshitee Jog and Sayali Sanjeev reprise their roles, the film adds two new faces to its cast – Rinku Rajguru and Shivani Surve – who are at the centre of the story and also take it forward. The film unfolds with the women’s trip and celebrations. A rollercoaster ride, Jhimma 2 makes you smile with its ‘slice of life’ approach, but also makes you introspect. Different people, different personalities, different approaches – Jhimma 2 has it all. Yet, it is all bound together, with Siddharth Chandekar’s Kabir acting as the glue.

The actors give it their best. Nirmitee Sawant’s natural ease is worth applauding, as is Kshitee Jog and Suchitra Bandekar’s sincerity. Sayali Sanjeev brings her carefree character to life beautifully, while Suhas Joshi’s work and efforts can put any younger actor to shame. Rinku and Shivani, the new entrants, gel well with the cast and their performances are to watch out for. Interestingly, though the film has eight characters, not once does it feel like one has been given more prominence than the other. Screenplay and dialogues are the base of this film and Hemant’s direction brings out their beauty perfectly. The film does feel a little stretched at times, but, as a whole, this flaw can be ignored. The music by Amitraj and lyrics by Kshitij Patwardhan stand out as well, helping take the movie forward. All in all, Jhimma 2 is a story of emotions that also shows a mirror to the viewers, presenting a side of their reality and making them think about the things in life that matter. That itself makes this one a good watch. Will there be a Jhimma 3? Maybe.
